Hospital / Vet Clinic hours
Making a difference in WellingtonVolunteer with us
SPCA has been in Wellington over 130 years and now has pride of place in the old Fever Hospital in the Green belt in Newtown on Mount Victoria.
The Fever Hospital was originally open in 1919 for human patients and was open just before Christmas 2013 just for animals.
As well as space for animals to be rehomed, SPCA’s Wellington Centre, known as the Margaret Doucas Animal Hospital has a full veterinary hospital providing care for the animals in the community as well as those in SPCA care.
With a focus on community engagement and proactive solutions to animal needs, there is also the opportunity to hire areas of the Centre for functions and events.
All cruelty reports should be made by phone: 04 389 8044 or 0800 467732
If you have an animal welfare complaint, please call our team on 04 389 8044 or 0800 467732. Our team will be on call 9am-9pm, 7 days a week during summer (daylight saving hours) and 8am-7pm during winter.
If you have an animal emergency outside of these hours, please contact your nearest after-hours vet clinic. For any problems with stray, found or lost dogs, please contact the local council. Please contact the local police for any instances where an animal or person/s welfare is at immediate risk..
Do not email or Facebook us to report emergencies.
