Any pet owner will tell you their pet is the most photogenic animal around, and have the hordes of photos to prove it! It’s that time of year again... SPCA is encouraging pet owners around the country to put their best pet photo forward in this year’s ‘Pets of the Year’ calendar competition!

Anyone can enter the competition and be in to win the cover spot of SPCA’s 2024 calendar, and crowned with the title Pet of the Year! Any entrant who raises $150 or more will be guaranteed a spot in the calendar or in the collage pages.

Furthermore, this year’s competition sees tech brand OPPO come on board as a proud sponsor for the event, meaning some amazing prizes are up for grabs for competition entrants.

The purrks of entering

  • Awesome prizes: Thanks to the team at OPPO, we have some incredible prizes to give away including the new Reno10 Pro smartphone, Enco earbuds and Chipolo. These will be awarded to top fundraisers, and offered as spot prizes throughout the competition period
  • Bragging rights for life: Everyone would say their own best furend is the pet of the year, but the winning pet gets the chance to make that title official! Let your competitive side shine through while having fun and trying to achieve fame and glory for your pet as our 2024 calendar star!
  • Helping animals in need: Not only is the competition a special way for Kiwi pet owners to celebrate their pets, it is a vital way they can support animals less fortunate than their own. The more people that get involved in the competition, the more money raised to provide the lifesaving support and care to vulnerable animals in Aotearoa.

How to get involved

  1. Head to SPCA’s Pets of the Year website
  2. Choose your favourite photo of your pet and create a profile that truly captures their essence – showcasing their quirks, unique charm, and all the reasons your adore them!
  3. Share the profile link with your network of friends, family and colleagues and encourage them to vote. Each vote raises vital funds that will directly help animals in need across New Zealand, so you can feel good while you and your pet go for the title... go hard!

As with previous years, there will be three calendars produced – cat, dog, and ‘other animals.’ The SPCA team can’t wait to see entries rolling in, and the competition begin! Join SPCA in making our 2024 calendar the most wonderful, heart-warming collection of pets yet.
