Fundraising for SPCA Cupcake Day wraps up for 2026

The official Cupcake Day was held on Wednesday 16 September, with last-minute donations still being added to the tallies in October. The fundraiser has been a big success, raising a total of $98,127 for the animals in our care.

“We’re blown away by the support we received this year,” says Elinor Birch, SPCA Events and Partnerships Manager. “By raising over $98,000, we’ve surpassed the totals raised for Cupcake Day over the past two years.

“We had 342 participants baking and selling cupcakes on behalf of the animals. It was wonderful to see so many individuals, workplaces and schools getting involved and hosting bake sales, and we’re incredibly grateful.”

A huge congratulations to our Cupcake Day fundraising champions! Across our three award categories, the winners are:

  • Top Individual Fundraiser: Cobie and Genesis, who led the way with the highest individual fundraising total.
  • Top Community Fundraiser: Tango, raising $1,238.
  • Top Workplace Fundraiser: Westpac, raising an amazing $16,840.

Congratulations to our winners, who took home some great prizes from KitchenAid, PB Tech and Milly’s Kitchen for their amazing efforts.

There were also many cafes and bakeries who decided to take part this year, selling sweet treats as SPCA Cupcake Business Champions.

“The impact of this fundraising can’t be overstated,” says Elinor. “We help over 55,000 animals each year, and we rely heavily on fundraising to be able to do so.

“To everyone who baked a cupcake, or pupcake, or just purchased one, thank you so much for your contribution.”
