New Zealanders double their impact for animals in need
On 20 March, SPCA asked New Zealanders to ‘Double their Donation’ and the nation answered! Team SPCA was blown away by the generosity shown by the public and sponsors, who collectively raised $235,813 on the day!
SPCA is so grateful to the generosity of animal-lovers around the country, and our wonderful sponsors who matched donations, including The Coffee Club.
This truly incredible result went above and beyond all expectations, and will go a long way in helping to care for neglected, abandoned and abused animals in our care.
SPCA receives only 10% Government funding, which is earmarked solely for our Inspectorate. This means that the cost of caring for the more than 33,000 animals each year is paid for by donations from the public.
On the day, a humbling total of 1,668 individuals chose to make a donation to our charity. SPCA CEO Todd Westwood says the result of the matched giving day was heart-warming to see.
“We’re so grateful to everyone to donated on the day,” Mr Westwood said. “To raise over $235,000 in a single day just reflects the level of support for our cause.”
“We’re all well aware that many Kiwis are struggling with the high costs of living, so it means even more that people rallied to support the thousands of animals in our care here at SPCA.”
Thank you again to everyone that donated, shared our messages or showed support on the day – we couldn’t have achieved this result without you!
