Quarantine Carer

Duties in this area includes cleaning cages, setting up cages, feeding according to their requirements, moving ill or injured animals. The animals here are often scared, stressed, and require gentle and quiet handling

No previous experience is necessary to volunteer in this area.

Working in the quarantine area is great for those wanting to:

  • Gain experience with a number of different species, e.g. cats, kittens, guinea pigs, chickens, birds
  • Gain experience before going on to train as a vet nurse or animal care attendant
  • Gain more experience if already qualified as a vet nurse or animal care attendant
  • Minimum age: 16 years.
  • Personal time commitment: one shift, once a week or one shift every third weekend for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Training: you will be required to attend training sessions for your specific area, in addition to receiving training while on-the-job during your shift.

We are currently seeking volunteers for this position for:

  • Monday: 8AM - 12PM
  • Wednesday: 3PM - 5PM

As we will invest time training you to do the role, we ask that you be available to commit to a regular shift for a period of at least six months.
