The SPCA Centre in New Plymouth, North Taranaki, was established in 1912 and is well supported by the community.
We have three Warranted Animal Welfare Inspectors on our staff who investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect for the whole of the Taranaki Region.
We are extremely fortunate to have the facilities and land (11 acres) to care for a wide range of animals including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, small animals, birds and livestock. Up to 1600 animals come into our centre each year and they are cared for by our dedicated staff and our team of amazing volunteers.
Our centre has a small retail area which sells pet care products, toys and pet food - almost everything you need for your new adopted family member.
All cruelty reports should be made by phone: 06 758 2053
If you have an animal welfare complaint, please call our team on 06 758 2053. Our team will be on call 9am-9pm, Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays) and 10am - 2pm Saturday. If you have an animal emergency outside of these hours, please contact your nearest after-hours vet clinic. For any problems with stray, found or lost dogs, please contact the local council. Please contact the local police for any instances where an animal or person/s welfare is at immediate risk.
Do not email or Facebook us to report emergencies.
