The SPCA Centre in New Plymouth, North Taranaki, was established in 1912 and is well supported by the community.
The Animal Welfare Inspector team investigate complaints of cruelty and neglect for the whole of the Taranaki Region.
We are extremely fortunate to have the facilities and land (11 acres) to care for a wide range of animals including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, small animals, birds and livestock. All animals that come into our centre each year are cared for by our dedicated staff and our team of amazing volunteers.
Our centre has a small retail area which sells pet care products, toys and pet food - almost everything you need for your new adopted family member.
If you have found a sick or injured animal, contact us immediately on 06 758 2053.
Welfare calls are for cruelty, neglect or abuse of animals. Call centre hours for welfare are 8:30am-5pm, 7 days a week. If an animal is in life-threatening, immediate danger due to cruelty or abuse outside of hours, please dial 111 and request Police assistance.
If you have found a roaming or dangerous dog, please call the New Plymouth District Council on 06 759 6060.
