Puppy Socialisation

Puppy socialisation is the process of introducing a puppy to a variety of different experiences, environments, people, and other animals in order to help them become confident and friendly adult dogs.

Puppy socialisation is the process of introducing a puppy to a variety of different experiences, environments, people, and other animals in order to help them become confident and friendly adult dogs.

Puppy socialisation typically begins when the puppy is around 3-4 weeks old and continues until they are around 12-14 weeks old, although it is important to continue giving them positive new experiences throughout their lives.

Socialisation involves giving your puppy positive introductions to new things. Use treats and praise to encourage calm and confident behaviour. Toys can be used to encourage them to play and relax in new environments.

Puppies should be gradually and safely introduced to different people of all ages, including children, as well as to different types of animals, environments, sights, sounds, and smells.

The socialisation process can involve bringing the puppy to various places such as parks, urban areas, or even pet-friendly stores.

Before they have completed their core vaccinations, puppies are vulnerable to disease. To keep them safe, carry your puppy in public places and avoid them coming into contact with unvaccinated dogs.
