Animal volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help with the daily work of caring for our cats and kittens, and the occasional dog or rabbit, or simply sitting quietly and stroking a timid cat or kitten.

Care of the animals is needed twice daily by volunteers seven days a week.

You will be involved a range of duties such as:
  • Cleaning cages
  • Feeding the animals
  • Caring for the animals
  • Washing and Washing up
  • Cleaning and sorting equipment
  • Stocking supplies
  • Medicating animals from time to time
  • Transport cats/kittens to/from vets

You must be confident at handling animals, hardworking and reliable, and able to work unsupervised.

You must be prepared to be rostered to a shift and to commit for a minimum of 6 months.

You likely will be the only person on duty with key access to the facility so your commitment to a shift is essential. For this reason the minimum age for volunteering in this role is 20 years of age, at the Centre Manager’s discretion.

If you have any questions, please contact us on dannevirke.info@spca.nz.
