Volunteer positions

Our valued volunteers are a vital part of our team. SPCA could not function without volunteers who donate their time freely, in many valuable roles. As an Op Shop Volunteer you are part of our volunteer family/whanau, which includes Op Shop Volunteers, Centre Volunteers and Foster Parents.

Your work in our Op Shops directly contributes to SPCA's income, which helps feed, treat and care for the animals of New Zealand whilst they transition to their new forever homes. We are hugely grateful for your contribution to help create a better life for New Zealand's animals!

• Receive donated items and help sort eligible goods from items that are not sellable.
• Repair items to get them ready for sale.
• Pick up furniture and bulky donated items from businesses, community and public donors.
• Deliver furniture purchases to customers.
• Undertake one off transfers or collections in our Op Shop and Animal Centre network of locations.
• General housekeeping duties (including some cleaning).

• Provide a high standard of customer service.
• Reliable, self-motivated and hands-on.
• Able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Good comprehension of written and spoken English.
• Comfortable using our Volunteer Management System for all your shifts, news and communications. Full training and support will be provided.
• Physically able to handle cleaning.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Full, clean, current New Zealand driver's licence.
• Safe, confident, responsible and courteous driver with good local area knowledge.
• Physically able to handle heavy lifting, loading and unloading of vehicles.
• Tell your friends and families about us.
• Help us raise vital funds for animals.
• Preferably able to commit to volunteering for a least 6 months.

• You gain retail, driving and customer service experience in our Op Shops.
• You feel great for helping contribute to the humane treatment of animals.
• You can spruce up your CV with volunteering work.
• Work in our friendly Op Shop environments honing your skills for that great job you are looking for.
