Gardening & Maintenance Volunteer
Wellington Centre
We’re looking for practical, hands-on volunteers to help keep our centre running smoothly and looking its best! If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and taking pride in a job well done, we’d love to hear from you.
What You Could Help With:
- Repairs & Maintenance - small repairs, one-off projects, general upkeep around the property.
- Gardening & Grounds Care - mowing lawns, weeding, pruning, and maintaining garden beds.
- Facility cleaning - waterblasting, blowing, sweeping and tidying our outdoor areas.
You may choose to focus on one area or assist across several, depending on your interests and availability. If you have skills or experience in trades such as electrical, plumbing, painting, or building, that’s an added bonus!
What We Are Looking For:
- Reliable, self-motivated volunteers who enjoy hands-on work.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Good understanding of maintenance, gardening, and outdoor work (training provided).
- Good English comprehension.
- Must be aged 16 years or older.
- Preferably able to commit for at least 6 months.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with SPCA. Volunteers are a huge part of our team - we couldn’t do what we do without you!
To get started, just fill out the form below. If you need help, please call the team at your local SPCA Centre or op shop.
A few things to note:
- You must be at least 15 to volunteer in our Op Shops or 16 to volunteer at our Centres. If you are younger, please check out our sections on 'Volunteering for Kids', 'Volunteering from Home' or talk to your family about fostering opportunities.
- You may need to provide an up to date Ministry of Justice check during this process, and we'll ask about any medical conditions so we can ensure your safety while volunteering.
- Information collected as part of this application process may also be used for placement screening, administration, health, safety and wellbeing purposes, to communicate with you about your role, and to promote SPCA goods and services that may interest you. Information collected by SPCA will be treated in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the SPCA Privacy Statement.
