Volunteer From Home

Would you love to help animals but can’t volunteer at a centre? Whether you’re under 16, prefer to help from home, or want to involve the whole family, there are plenty of ways you can make a difference for animals in SPCA’s care - right from your own home!

How You Can Help

Our volunteer from home roles offer flexible, family-friendly ways to support SPCA, including:

  • Sewing, crafting & toy making - create enrichment toys, blankets, or ‘Adopt Me’ gear to brighten the lives of animals in our care.
  • Sorting, collecting & donation drives - help by cutting rags, sorting newspapers, collecting supplies, or running donation drives in your community.

You may choose to focus on one area or assist across several depending on your interests and availability. These activities are a great way for individuals, families, or community groups to contribute- especially for kids and young supporters who aren’t yet old enough to volunteer onsite.

Getting Started

Before you begin, please contact your local SPCA Centre to check what items or materials are most needed. Some centres may even be able to provide donated fabric, paper, or other supplies to help you get started.

For inspiration and ideas, visit the SPCA Kids Portal for craft guides and enrichment projects, or our Fundraising Hub for more ways to help animals from home.

If you have any questions, please contact your local SPCA Centre or email volunteer@spca.nz.

We look forward to hearing from you!
