Specialist Volunteer

Do you have a specialist skill and want to use your talents to help animals? We’re looking for passionate and creative volunteers who can use their professional or personal expertise to make a difference for SPCA - whether that’s through photography, videography or other specialist areas.

How You Can Help

Specialist volunteers help us tell the stories of animals in our care and support SPCA’s community work in a variety of ways, including:

  • Photography - capturing high-quality images of animals for adoption profiles, campaigns, and events.
  • Videography - producing short videos for social media, foster recruitment, volunteer promotion, or education resources.
  • Other specialist skills - such as graphic design, writing, plumbing, IT, carpentry, or other areas that can support SPCA’s operations and outreach.

Each centre’s needs will vary, and opportunities may be one-off projects or ongoing support roles depending on your skillset and availability.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Relevant experience or training in their chosen field (professional or advanced hobbyist level).
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently or alongside staff.
  • Confident communicating and collaborating with others.
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English.
  • Must be aged 16 years or older.
  • A genuine passion for helping animals and supporting SPCA’s mission.

Hours are flexible and depend on the nature of each project. Some tasks can be done on-site, while others can be completed remotely.
