Animal care assistant – Dogs
Auckland (Hobsonville) Centre
We need people to help us care for our dogs! This role requires a good level of fitness as the work we ask our canine volunteers to do can be quite strenuous. You will need to be confident with handling large dogs and you must be willing to walk dogs in any type of weather, rain or shine!
Available shifts:
- Monday – Friday:
- 8:15 AM – 12.15 PM
- 12.15 PM - 4:15 PM
Duties:
- Walk and enrich dogs (rain or shine!)
- Clean kennels/yards
- Feed dogs, assist with movement
- Identify health concerns
Requirements:
- 16+ years old
- Physically fit, confident with dogs
- Weekly/Fortnightly four-hour shift for six months

Please note: Our centres and op shops have minimum age requirements to volunteer. For op shops the minimum age is 15 years. For volunteering at a centre, please enquire with them directly if you are under 16 years of age. You may need to provide an up-to-date Ministry of Justice check prior to starting. Please be aware that during the application process we will ask about any medical conditions (physical or mental) we need to be aware of to ensure your safety while volunteering for us.
