Making a difference in Oamaru
Volunteer with usUnder Alert Level 1 our is open, however, enquiries about adoptions, fostering and volunteering are by appointment. We ask anyone who would like to come to a centre to contact us first and make an appointment. You can do so by calling our centre on the number provided below. If you are dropping off donations we would love to see you during our opening hours at any time.
Our Oamaru Centre is situated behind Vetlife in Oamaru. It is a small centre and currently we are only housing cats and occasionally have rabbits and birds.
However, we are getting a new building which will allow us to have a wider range of animals.
We have one full-time animal welfare inspector who attends animal welfare call-outs in the North Otago and South Canterbury areas.
Specific enquiries
Due to limited space and resources, unfortunately SPCA does not usually accept owned animals into our care.
As a charity, we do not have sufficient space and resources to provide a rehoming service for owned animals, and have to prioritise sick, stray or injured animals.
