Happy adoption stories
Many of our adopters, volunteers, donors and friends send us stories and photos of the animals who give them so much joy. We dedicate this space to all of you whose lives have been changed by animals.
Apollo has become part of our family so quickly and we cannot imagine our home without him now. He has been with us for almost 2 months, but it feels like he has been with us for years.
Initially, we were nervous he wouldn't be accepted by our 3 year old female Calico, Astrid, because she has a strong dislike for other animals. For this reason we thought a younger companion might be a good option for her. Apollo however, does not care about Astrid's dislike for other animals and has completely demolished her "walls" and they are now best friends. One does not go anywhere without the other.
He was very timid when he arrived, but we kept him in his own safe space for a day or 2 and enticed him with toys and treats. It didn't take much to get him out of his shell and he is a real clown now.
Once Apollo and Astrid get started with their playtime, they take over my house and can get a bit naughty, but I could watch them rough house all day. My Christmas tree on the other hand was not as happy about the situation.
In a nutshell, Apollo is a sweet, soft natured, mischievous tabby that has stolen his adoptive hooman's hearts. He is very vocal and chats to us all day. He loves food and his toys and is always looking for cuddles. Thanks so much for the wonderful Christchurch SPCA team for bringing this little soul into our lives.
