Kittens and cats find homes through SPCA’s ‘Super Mums’ adoption campaign and walk-in Caturdays
The campaigns ran in an effort to counter the busy kitten season, ensuring space was made available in Centres for additional vulnerable animals.
SPCA’s first ‘Super Mums’ campaign was a success, shining a spotlight on the mother cats that typically take a lot longer to find homes than their young kittens.
While many kittens manage to find forever homes within days of being listed, it can sometimes take their adult mothers weeks or even months to be adopted.
“We wanted to highlight just how many adult cats were being overlooked in our Centres,” says SPCA CEO Todd Westwood. “These cat mums are every bit as deserving as their litters, and we’re very pleased to see so many of them find loving homes.”
While the Super Mums campaign ran from 9 February to 29 March, SPCA also brought back walk-in Caturdays for certain Centres around the country.
The Caturdays allowed those interested in adopting to come into the Centre on Saturdays, no appointment needed, to meet the cats waiting to find homes.
From 9 February until the final official Caturday, a total of 2,422 cats were adopted from SPCA.
“It’s amazing that so many cats and kittens have been adopted, and this has been absolutely critical in freeing up more space in our Centres,” says Mr Westwood. There are always more cats coming into the care of SPCA.
If you’re interested in adopting, you can view their profiles online and make an appointment to meet them.
