The stars of SPCA’s 2026 calendars have been announced!
Voting has now closed on SPCA’s most adorable annual competition and fundraiser, Pets of the Year – the new cover stars have taken their crowns, and calendar pre-sales are now open!
Our popular calendar competition, Pets of the Year, has had another incredible round of entrants this year, with hundreds of adorable profiles attracting widespread voting to determine who would become the cover stars of the cat and dog calendars for 2026.
1,349 pet profiles were created, and animal lovers made generous donations to these profiles to determine the cover stars.
Fundraising officially closed at midday, Tuesday 22 July – and raised an incredible $92,013 for animals in need!
Every dollar raised from both the competition itself and the sales of the calendars goes directly to helping the abused, neglected and vulnerable animals in our care here at SPCA.
Pets of the Year has been proudly supported by our friends at The Coffee Club – we'd like to say a huge thank you for their wonderful support. Their generosity helps makes this special fundraiser possible, and supports animals in need across Aotearoa.
The top spot for the dog calendar this year was Coco, a two-year-old Toy Cavoodle, whose profile raised $2,710 in donations.
The cat calendar winner was four-time reigning champion Deli Department, a loveable ginger cat who raised a whopping $5,474 in donations.
All profiles which raised $150 or more will feature in the 2026 cat or dog calendar, and top fundraisers have also won some amazing prizes from Harvey Norman and Purina.
Production of the calendars is underway, and they’re available to pre-order now! At just $20 + shipping, pre-ordering a calendar is a wonderful way to support our important work, helping over 30,000 animals every year around New Zealand.
Thank you to everyone who entered a pet into the competition, and everyone who made a donation! By taking part, you’ve helped the animals throughout the country who need it most.
