‘Meet Your Match’ campaign helps SPCA animals find their ideal homes
With a focus on the unique personalities of every SPCA animal, the campaign successfully matched deserving animals with their perfect homes.
Each winter, SPCA sees adoption rates slow down. With so many animals ready and waiting to be adopted, the campaign was launched to Meet Your Match, and help kiwi families find their ideal companion.
SPCA animals come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s their individual quirks that set them apart. Rather than simply getting animals adopted quickly, the campaign worked to ensure each adopter was matched to an animal with whom they could share a meaningful and lasting connection.
“No matter your home, schedule, or personality, we’ve got animals to suit,” says Dr Corey Regnerus-Kell, SPCA General Manager of Animal Services. “This campaign was all about helping people find their ideal lifelong companions, and we’re so pleased to have seen so many great matches.”
Over the course of the three-week campaign, a total of 1,050 animals were adopted into loving homes.
This included Bailey and Sako, two cheeky and cuddly kittens who were adopted together.
After the recent passing of their much-loved pets, Karen said that she and her husband were initially uncertain about adopting – but “missed having fur-babies to cuddle”. They went to meet Bailey and Sako, and the rest is history!
“Sako is super cuddly and demands a snuggle in bed every morning,” Karen says. “Bailey is mischief! She races up your back to check what’s happening in the world. We feel like we have a couple of two-year olds, but now we wouldn’t be without them.”
Our friends from MoreFM were also successful in their match-making attempts. Producer Tyler came into our Hobsonville Centre with host Sarah, to search for his perfect companion.
He found a little kitten named Jim, and picked him up the following weekend – Jim is now a part of the MoreFM family!
With every successful adoption from SPCA, we create space to take in more vulnerable animals that need our help.
If you’re still thinking of adopting, you can meet all of the animals still waiting to find their match on our website.
