Animal lovers bake a difference with Cupcake Day
Bakers and taste-testers around New Zealand have raised over $92,000 for the animals through our sweetest fundraiser of the year!
The dishes are done, the aprons are off and the flour has settled – SPCA Cupcake Day is over for another year, and what an incredible result we’ve had.
A total of $92,796.11 has been raised for animals in need, thanks to the amazing bakers and their supporters around the country.
Animal lovers were asked to bake and sell cupcakes last month, with the final donations trickling in through early November.
There were fundraising categories and prizes up for grabs for the top Individual Fundraiser, Workplace fundraiser, and Community Team fundraiser. With mammoth efforts all around and an exciting race to the top spot, the winners are as follows:
Top Individual Fundraiser: Incredicakes, $3,210
Incredicakes topped the leaderboard with a difference this year, creating and selling beautiful handmade soaps in the shape of delicious cupcakes!
Top Workplace Fundraiser: Team Purina, $1,452
Team Purina earned the top spot and will be enjoying their tasty prize of a morning tea from Bluebells.
Top Community Team Fundraiser: Team Tango, $1,338
This fantastic community team are the deserving winners of the Bakers Dream Hamper.
Michelle Connor is taking home the prize of the coveted KitchenAid Stand Mixer, and will be collecting this from our Tauranga Centre this week!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to our Cupcake Day Business Champions, who committed to selling cupcakes and raising funds through their own businesses to help raise funds for animals in need.
To everyone who got involved with Cupcake Day – whether through baking, purchasing a tasty sweet treat, or even just spreading the word – thank you. With your support, we’re able to continue our important work, and help thousands of vulnerable animals every year.
