A Furever Home Giving Day: we did it!
On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, New Zealanders doubled their impact for animals by donating to SPCA’s special matched giving day. A whopping $575,339 was raised by 2,993 people to help animals find their Furever Home!
The SCPA team has been blown away by the day’s success, which went well beyond what we’d hoped would be raised on the day.
SPCA CEO Todd Westwood is thrilled by the response.
“A Furever Home Giving Day far exceeded our expectations. The outcome shows how caring people in New Zealand are towards our furry friends, and it’s been incredible to watch the community come together to show their commitment to animals.”
A massive thank you to the team at Petdirect and the Estate of Peter Maclean, who matched the first $250,000 donated on Wednesday.
And a huge thank you to every single person who donated on the day. The money you raised will do so much to help care for the animals who come to our Centre every day needing our help. Injured, sick, and vulnerable animals arrive on SPCA’s doorstep in desperate need of rehabilitation, care, love, and often complex surgery. Your support helps to fund vital rehabilitation, vet treatment, and surgery, so every animal in SPCA’s care becomes closer to finding their Furever Home.
Our A Furever Home Giving Day was such a success, all because of the amazing support shown on the day by animal lovers around the country. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our messages, or showed support on the day – we couldn’t have achieved this result without you!
