To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, we’re excited to share the instructional reader Rupert, Porohita Poroporo me te Pere, by John Carr, retold in te reo Māori by Nikora Ngaropo.

The story is about Rupert, Room Four’s goldfish. He lives alone in a small bowl, has no plants to nibble, and has nothing to explore or enrich his day. One student decides it’s time to do something to help Rupert.
