Keep SPCA Inspectors saving innocent lives – no matter what!
If recent events can teach us anything, another lockdown could happen at any moment. But SPCA Inspectors’ work has to carry on – no matter what.
Inspector Pip got a phone call about Walnut just as the Prime Minister was announcing NZ was going into lockdown.
As she wrote down the notes about his condition, Inspector Pip’s knew that this was serious.
Inspector Pip jumped in her truck and rushed out to make sure Walnut was at the address called in. When she saw him … weak, listless and emaciated … she was shaken.
“Walnut was the most emaciated horse I’ve ever seen still standing,” says Inspector Pip. “But when I pulled out some hay from my truck, he promptly lit up and munched it down hungrily. We knew we had to get him into SPCA possession quickly.”
Racing against the clock, Inspector Pip frantically leapt to work, ringing everywhere to find an experienced foster home willing to care for Walnut through lockdown.
Somehow, she also had to find a vet willing to leave their lockdown preparations, and come at short notice to assess Walnut. She also needed a horse float, back up and food.
Inspector Pip was fighting for Walnut’s life.
As you know, SPCA receives very little government funding. It was only because of the support of Kiwis like you that Inspector Pip could act, fast – Walnut was rescued just in time.
Inspectors rely on your support to continue this essential, live-saving work, no matter what. Please donate today to save more animals like Walnut!
