Right now, hundreds of helpless, unwanted kittens are arriving at SPCA.
Every day now, helpless kittens arrive at SPCA. They are full of biting fleas, weak from hunger or suffering from cat flu. Each one is desperate for help.
We are working frantically to keep up with demand – but there are more than 100 kittens arriving at SPCA every day. This could be our biggest kitten season ever.
These three-week-old kittens are lucky to be alive after crawling for shelter into the back of a truck full of dangerous forestry machinery.
They must have gotten the fright of their little lives when the truck rumbled into life, and started moving. For eight long hours, they were stuck in the truck, all the way from Southland to Christchurch.
When the kittens were finally discovered and rushed to SPCA, they were wet, full of biting fleas and dangerously underweight.
The SPCA team immediately warmed up some wet kitten food for them. As soon as the kittens smelled the food, they cried out desperately, and gobbled it down as quickly as they could.
After a full health check and flea-bath – the kittens settled down in the SPCA nursery with full tummies and a warm, cosy bed. It took a little while before they were stable enough to go to a foster home, but once they were ready - each one pounced on their new foster mum, demanding constant cuddles and smooches.
If it wasn’t for the kind, expert care made possible by kind and generous Kiwis, these kittens wouldn’t have survived.
As you finish reading this, even more kittens will have arrived – motherless, hungry and scared. They will need your help to survive.
Please, will you give a compassionate donation today to save innocent kittens?
