Free Desexing in Auckland 3-14 September
Free desexing programme aims to reduce influx of unwanted kittens
Our free desexing campaign in the Auckland region is back, and offering free desexing and microchipping to residents of 12 Auckland suburbs from 3-14 September 2018.
Free desexing will be available to residents of the following suburbs:
Avondale, Glen Innes, Henderson, Mangere, Manurewa, Mt Roskill, Mt Wellington, Otahuhu, Papakura, Papatoetoe, Stanmore Bay or Takanini
SPCA’s Auckland Centre has worked hard in recent years to address the problem of too many cats being born unwanted and not living a good quality of life.
Our desexing campaigns usually target 12 of the suburbs responsible for the highest amount of incoming cats to SPCA’s Auckland Centre.
The aim is to reach out to those who cannot afford the desexing operation or may not normally consider having their cat desexed to use this opportunity. It also provides a chance opportunity for cat owners that do not currently have a local vet to get to know one.
Cat owners have responded well to our campaigns in recent years, SPCA Auckland centre has seen close to 7,000 cats and kittens desexed over the last two years! Scientific research has proven that a desexed animal lives a happier and healthier life. They are less likely to get into fights, can be more affectionate and friendly and have a reduced risk of health problems such as cancer.
We believe desexing is one of the key ways to improve animal welfare in New Zealand, and would like to thank the participating vets in advance for their help with campaign.
Free desexing appointments are limited, so cat owners should call SPCA Auckland today on (09) 256 7310 to book early and avoid disappointment.
