Community Cats Programme volunteer
Auckland (Mangere) Centre
We are looking for committed volunteers for our Community Cats Programme. This programme helps stray cats and the community by reducing the number of undesexed cats and unwanted kittens.
This is a humane stray cat trapping and desexing programme. After a successful pilot in 2016 in Manurewa, we expanded the programme to Mangere East in 2017 and 2018.
You need to have excellent people and communication skills, a willingness to educate, be fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks. You must have your own car, have a clean, valid driver’s license, a mobile phone and ideally, access to a computer and email. Ability to converse in Samoan and Tongan would be an advantage.
You will be engaging with the public, educating the community about desexing and responsible cat ownership, transporting cats, interacting with the local vet clinic and keeping records. All training and equipment will be provided.
We need volunteers who can help with the following shifts:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 8am to 10am
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 3pm to 4.30pm
To find out more about the programme or to let us know about stray cats on your property in Mangere East, please contact us on 09 256 7310.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for SPCA. Volunteers are a vital part of the SPCA team and we simply couldn't do the work we do without the large number of volunteers who donate their time to help the animals.
Please fill out this form as completely as you are able. If you need assistance, please call the team at your local SPCA Centre.
