Will you be a Christmas Angel for a kitten in need?
We don’t know how long Suzy suffered, alone. The skin on her hip had torn away, and the raw, open wound had become infected. Her back legs were swollen and badly broken. It’s likely she’d had been hit by a car.
Gently, the SCPA team soothed the frightened little kitten, and cleaned her infected wound. They gave her pain relief and antibiotics.
As Suzy calmed down, the vets studied her x-rays. They shook their heads. One of Suzy’s legs was so badly damaged it would have to be amputated.
These are never easy decisions. But the team knew that as a young kitten, Suzy could easily adjust to having three legs. It was her best chance to recover, and to live a pain-free life.
After her big surgery, poor Suzy was barely able to move. For days, all she could do was lie on her back and watch the SPCA Centre bustling around outside her cage. But soon, this little champion began to show signs of playfulness and healing, and was ready to go to a foster home to heal fully.
Suzy thrived in her foster home – stretching her three legs, and gaining strength. She chatted away constantly to her foster mum. She also turned out to be a bit of a flirt, and became best friends with her foster brother, rescue dog Findus.
It took a long time for Suzy to heal, but with the kind support of Kiwis like you - Suzy has now fully recovered after her traumatic accident. She has been adopted by a loving family, who simply adore her and her affectionate cuddles.
This is the wonderful outcome your donation can give a kitten in need. As you might know, each year, as the weather warms up – cats fall pregnant in the annual kitten season. As we near Christmas, thousands of kittens will come flooding into SPCA – lost, abandoned, unwanted.
With your kind donation today, you will be Christmas Angel for a kitten in need – giving them life-saving care, medication and love.
Please donate today, and become a Christmas Angel for an innocent kitten in need.
