Volunteer with us

Please note the Dannevirke Centre is now operating as an animal care centre only and is closed to the public.

From October 2018 SPCA’s Dannevirke Centre will no longer be open for adoptions.

For animal welfare concerns in the area, please contact 0800 INSPECTOR.

For adoptions, please consider adopting an animal in need from one of our neighbouring SPCA Centres.

If you need urgent assistance for an injured animal currently in your possession, please call us on 0800 INSPECTOR or take it to Tararua Vets or Vet Services in Dannevirke.

The Dannevirke Centre has been running since 1963 and was entirely volunteer run until the appointment of a paid part-time welfare inspector in 2016.

The inspector responds to approximately 100 welfare calls a year and the centre handles around 150 incoming animals for the Tararua District: From Norsewood to Pahiatua, and Herbertville to Woodville.
