Making a difference in AlexandraVolunteer with us
SPCA's Alexandra Centre was established in 2004 and covers Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes districts.
The centre is operated by two part-time Auxiliary Officers who respond to after-hours calls, assist in op shop organisation and look after and rehome all SPCA animals in the area. In the last 12 months over 150 animals have been successfully placed into there forever homes by our centre.
Our Alexandra Centre has undergone several makeovers in the past 14 years, the latest being a stand-alone facility made from recycled materials and repurposed buildings and designed to function off the grid and to be environmentally friendly.
When finally completed the solar powered cattery and administrative offices will have cost less than $20,000 - all of which has been raised locally.
The Alexandra Op Shop was established in 2011 and has moved three times within Alexandra. Each move has proved to be very successful for both funds and raising the profile of the SPCA in Central Otago.
