SPCA advocates that farmed animals who must be destroyed due to physical injury or disease must, without delay, be euthanised on site by a competent person.
SPCA advocates that those involved in the handling and care of animals and who may be placed in the position of needing to euthanase an animal should undergo appropriate and ongoing training to ensure their competency. The overriding consideration is to prevent the casualty animal from suffering further pain or distress.
